HANDOUTS/HOMEWORK
BOOK REPORT
You are to do a book report on a book of your choosing outside of class (you may read the book in class during designated times). It cannot be a graphic novel, and must be at least 100 pages. This is to see how you apply what you have learned in class towards a book of your own choosing.
Format: Typed, double spaced, “Times New Roman font”
Book Report: “3, 2, 1” format
3: You must type at least 3 paragraphs to give me a summary of the book. Give me a paragraph about the beginning, middle, and end. I don’t want to know word-for-word what happened. I’m only interested to see what you can produce in a summary.
2: I want two paragraphs explaining at least SIX literary elements. I will provide a list in addition to this form for literary elements you can use. I suggest three per paragraph or one (plot) for one paragraph and use the second paragraph for shorter ones.
1: You need to write a review of the book. I want YOUR opinion on if you liked this book or not. Be honest, be descriptive, do what you need to convince me that you liked it or not. You’re welcome to be creative with this as long as it’s in a paragraph format.
DUE DATES:
October 28th, December 13th, February 23rd, April 27th
LITERARY ELEMENTS YOU CAN USE (Choose 6, Plot counts as one):
Plot (Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Resolution)
